Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you set up BabaYo, you provide the following information directly:

• Your name
• Your date and time of birth
• Your place of birth (city, region, country)
• Your gender (required for accurate Vedic interpretation)

As you use the app, BabaYo also stores the entries you create:

• Daily calibration entries (HIT / PARTIAL / MISS ratings, optional tags, optional reflections)
• Retrospective ratings of past Mahadasha and Antardasha periods
• Retrospective ratings of past planet house transits
• Life events you choose to log, with their auto-captured chart context
• Challenge enrollment and progress state

2. Where this data lives

All of the information above is stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults storage system. It is encrypted at rest by iOS Data Protection (the same encryption that protects your other app data).

BabaYo does not transmit, sync, or share this data with any server, third party, or advertiser. There is no BabaYo backend that receives your data.

If you delete the BabaYo app from your device, your data is removed with it. You can also reset all data at any time from Settings → Reset all data.

3. What we do NOT do

For absolute clarity:

• We do not use analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, AppsFlyer, Branch, Adjust, or similar tools).
• We do not use advertising networks. There are no ads in BabaYo.
• We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or device-ID tracking.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
• We do not require an account, email address, or login to use the app.

4. Network requests

The only outbound network request BabaYo makes is to Apple's MapKit service for place-of-birth lookup during profile setup. Search queries you type may be sent to Apple to return location suggestions. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy. BabaYo does not see, store, or transmit these queries beyond the in-app lookup itself.

5. Support emails (opt-in)

If you tap Settings → Your data → Report an accuracy concern, BabaYo opens your device's mail app pre-populated with technical context to help us investigate. The email is sent through your own mail account — there is no BabaYo server that receives or processes it in v1.0. The pre-populated body includes:

• Today's nakshatra + current dasha layers (anonymized chart context)
• App version, iOS version, device model

It does not include your name, birth date, birth time, birth place, calibration entries, or life events. A privacy notice at the top of the email body discloses exactly what's included, and you can edit or delete any section before sending.

6. Future server features

BabaYo may, in a future version, offer an optional feature to anonymously contribute aggregated calibration patterns to help refine the methodology for all users. If this feature is ever added, it will be:

• Strictly opt-in (off by default)
• Anonymous (no identifying information, no birth chart, no journal content)
• Aggregated (statistical patterns only, never individual entries)
• Clearly disclosed at the moment you opt in, with a preview of what would be shared

Until and unless you explicitly enable such a feature, no data leaves your device.

7. Children

BabaYo is intended for users 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17.

8. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and surface the change in the app on next launch.

9. Operator and jurisdiction

BabaYo is developed and operated by Yogesh Thanvi as an individual, based in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States. This policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Your local data-protection rights (GDPR in the EU, UK GDPR, CCPA in California, etc.) apply where they grant additional protections.
